Information for Contributors

  Optical Memory & Neural Networks (Information Optics) publishes papers reporting on research and development in new fields of information optics. Manuscripts are reviewed and refereed. Those accepted for publication are edited for conformance to the journal's style.

  1. There are no page charges for articles published in this journal. A reasonable number of offprints and one copy of the journal will be supplied at no charge to the principal author of each article.
  2. By submitting a manuscript the authors warrant that they are its sole owners, that it is not currently under consideration by another publication and has not been published or accepted for publication elsewhere, and that any necessary permissions to incorporate materials from other sources have been obtained. The authors also agree that upon acceptance of a manuscript for publication, Allerton Press, Inc. shall be deemed the holder of the entire copyright and the authors further agree to sign a statement acknowledging the transfer of copyright to Allerton.
  3. Please submit text and graphic files along with two copies of the manuscript. Output from laser or letter quality printers is preferred. Windows-based word-processing formats such as Microsoft Word or WordPerfect are encouraged. Graphic files in the TIFF format are preferred. Line graphics in CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator are suggested. Original output of all illustrations must accompany the manuscript; photocopies are not acceptable.
  4. Text should be typed double-spaced, leaving a margin of at least one inch on all sides. A 12-point type font is preferred.
  5. Please follow this order when you create your manuscript: Title, Authors, Affiliations, Abstract, Keywords, Main text, Acknowledgements, Appendix, References, Figure captions and then Tables.
  6. Article title and text: Do not use capital letters unless the transcription is to be rendered in capitals.
  7. The following scheme for headings is suggested:
    a) First heading: separate line, all caps, no ending punctuation;
    b) Second heading: separate line, upper- and lower-case, flush left, no ending punctuation;
    c) Third heading (run into text): initial word begins with capital letter, then all lower-case, ending with a period.
  8. Place copies of illustrations at the end of the article. Do not place them throughout the text.
  9. References should be typed double-spaced, flush with left-hand margin, numbered consecutively in the order of their citation in the text. Use the following formats for books or journal articles: . Books: Author(s) (List first and middle initials, then last name], book title in italics, publisher, city, and year published. (When citing a paper or chapter in a book, list both the paper or chapter title and the book title in italics, followed by page numbers.)
    Journals: Author(s), paper title in quotes, journal (abbreviate only well-known journals), volume and issue numbers, inclusive page numbers, and year published.
  10. Please send papers dealing with the following topics:
    1. Fundamentals of Information Optics. Signal and image processing with optics, Coherent effects and transformations with optics, Computer and holographic optics, Near-field optics and super-resolution, Bioelectronics and biocomputing.
    2. Fundamentals of Optical Memory. Recording mechanisms and materials, 3D memory, Holographic and neural memory, Spectral hole burning and photon echo, Auto-waves and photosensitive biostructures, Associative memory and self-organization, Soliton and biochemical memory.
