This is a thematic series devoted to the twin subjects of integral geometry (in the Blaschke-Santalo-Hadwiger sense) and stochastic geometry, published in the Journal of Contemporary Mathematical Analysis (Armenian Academy of Sciences). The series is edited by Rouben V. Ambartzumian, Editor of the journal and one of the leading experts in these two fields. Ambartzumian has influenced the development of integral and stochastic geometry by introducing new combinatorial methods and providing an abundance of models and problems, and has obtained numerous and impressive analytical results. His school continues to gain increased recognition among experts as further problems in the field yield to solution by the new methods.

Presently papers in the subseries reflect research primarily within the circle of Armenian mathematicians, but it is open to all quality research papers following any direction suggested by the subseries title.

  Illustrative contents:
  • Wicksell problem for random planar particles
  • Integral geometry of X-rays of planar convex domains
  • Analytic implications of combinatorial integral geometry: A review
  • Segment functions in R^3 and measure generation
  • Analysis of homogeneous random line processes in the plane by invariant imbedding
  • Combinatorics of the random transform by the Euler characteristic
  • Valuational solution of Hilbert's fourth problem
  • Differential criteria regulating extension of valuations to signed measures in integral geometry spaces

Papers in the field of ISG that are of an applied or statistical nature can be published in certain periodicals easily enough. However, work in the same field, that is more oriented towards mathematical analysis, despite intensive development and the strong interest that it attracts, lacks the advantage of possessing a recognized home for publication. This series is intended to provide such a forum.
