The P. N. Lebedev Physics Institute is the leading institute
of the Russian Academy of Sciences in fundamental research in physics, and
this is its express journal publishing reports, frequently brief, on up-to-the-minute
research results of its outstanding research staff. For many years the journal
was edited by Nobel Laureate Nikolai G. Basov, and under his guidance its
prestige grew significantly in Russia and abroad. Papers cover the gamut
of physics topics, with an emphasis on semiconductor and laser physics.
